Taylor & Francis celebrates 10 years of open access to books

Taylor & Francis is celebrating a major milestone - 10 years since the launch of Open Access (OA) to its books and titles. The publishing house presents 12 books that have played a role in advancing progress on global issues.

In 2013, Negotiating Bioethics became the first fully open access publication from Taylor & Francis. And now, ten years later, Taylor & Francis is one of the world's leading open access publishing companies.

In this new collection, the editors have selected 12 outstanding OA books that have influenced policy, practice, and public awareness over the past decade. These books highlight key global issues such as human rights, environmental justice, sustainable development, and public health.

The selected works emphasise the importance of open access to share new knowledge with a wide range of readers. This is especially true when the research has important implications for policy and practice, such as in the fields of technology and sustainable development. Many of these publications have helped the public understand key concepts that affect our modern society.

"Over the past decade, we have seen more and more authors choose to publish open access books with us, which has led to Taylor & Francis becoming one of the top OA publishers. Our new storefront aims to capture the diversity of open access titles that address the pressing issues in our society today," said Jeremy North, Managing Director, Taylor & Francis Books.

He added: "My own recommendation is Bitcoin and Beyond, a fascinating multidisciplinary collection that examines the implications of cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology for global governance. This book is also the fourth most downloaded of all 26,000+ titles available on the OAPEN platform".
